Meet Dr. Masin

Dr. Tanya Masin is the founder and owner of Metro Child and Family Psychology, located in Rockwall, Texas. She is a licensed psychologist in Texas and New York and specializes in psychological assessment and research-based treatment of children and adults ages 3-65. Her areas of expertise are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) the new gold standard in short-term psychotherapy, as well as cutting edge cross battery assessment (XBA) to identifying learning disabilities and other disorders that interfere with achieving academic potential. Dr. Masin is a specialist in child behavior and psychological disorders such as ADHD, LD, autism, anxiety, phobias, etc. She is passionate about helping parents nurture healthy, positive relationships with their children as well as helping them understand why their child may be struggling academically. Dr. Masin has trained among the world's most foremost experts in child development and intellectual assessment. She is a magna cum laude graduate of St. John’s University’s APA accredited Doctor of Psychology graduate program, as well as CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice's forensic psychology master's program. She is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) and a lifetime member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology. She is a member of the American, New York and Texas Psychological Associations. In addition to her doctorate and two masters degrees, Dr. Masin has also received extensive clinical and neuropsychological training at some of the nation’s most respected academic and medical centers, including the NYU Child Study Center, Johns Hopkins University, Adults & Children with Learning & Developmental Disabilities (ACLD), SUNY Stony Brook Medical Center and Rockland Psychiatric Center in New York. Dr. Masin worked as a bilingual school psychologist and Committee on Special Education (CSE) chairperson in both private and public school settings for close to a decade. She frequently consults with parents for 504 and IEP development and advocacy. Dr. Masin brings to Metro Child and Family over 20 years of clinical experience helping children and their families thrive while always maintaining a healthy sense of humor. Dr. Masin was born and raised in metropolitan New York, but relocated to the DFW metroplex in 2021, hence serving two "metro" areas. She is a proud "New Texan" and is deeply appreciative of the freedoms and hospitality her new home state affords. Dr. Masin is excited to see Texas patients in person and via Telehealth, and will continue to offer Telehealth appointments to New York patients as well. Outside of the session, Dr. Masin’s passions include acting silly with her husband and four children, restoring her old Mustang, CrossFit and growing deeper in her Faith.
