In Texas, Metro Child and Family Psychology accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and is also an out of network provider. Upon request we can provide you with a superbill for out of network reimbursement. It is your responsibility to determine what type of out of network coverage you have for mental health benefits. We can also accept direct payment via credit cards and Health/Flex Spending Accounts as a form of payment.

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

In NY, feel free to make an initial appointment via https://headway.co/providers/tanya-dwyer-masin online scheduler. You may otherwise contact our office via email, text or phone. Only parents or legal guardians are able to schedule initial appointments. Minors whose parents' share legal custody, are separated or are in the process of a divorce must both provide consent prior to treatment.

CAN I TALK WITH SOMEONE BEFORE DECIDING TO SCHEDULE?

Yes. Please reach out to schedule a free15 minute consultation if you would like to do so prior to your first meeting. At this time, Dr. Masin can answer any questions you might have. We are happy to provide referrals if it is determined that you or your child will need a type of treatment not currently offered at Metro (i.e. severe eating disorders, substance abuse treatment). It is truly important to get the right treatment for you and your family.

WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE AND WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

For therapy, payments and copays are billed after the session is held. For evaluations, a 50% deposit is due upon scheduling the initial appointment, 25% is due at the time of the first testing session and the remaining 25% is due at the feedback session. We accept cash, check, major credit cards and HSA/FSA benefits. For therapy appointments, a valid credit card must be kept on file for copays or fees.

HOW LONG AND WHEN WILL I FEEL BETTER?

Therapy sessions are generally 1x per week and typically last between 38-50 minutes depending on the age and needs of the patient. Initial intake appointments may run slightly longer depending on the history of the patient. Most patients will report some improvement within 8-12 sessions, but this can be longer or shorter depending on the needs of the individual. Evaluations generally take one to six weeks to complete and are typically scheduled across multiple days with a 45 minute feedback session to review results and present the report.

DO YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICATION?

No. Psychologists do not prescribe or make recommendations regarding specific medications or other medical treatments. We may periodically suggest psychiatric (medical) consultation. Referrals and consultation with medical providers about psychological symptoms can be arranged upon request.

CANCELLATION/NO SHOW POLICY: WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL AN APPOINTMENT OR AM RUNNING LATE?

Please notify the office or utilize the various appointment confirmation options to cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you are unable to attend. Late cancellations and/or no shows will incur a $150 charge to the credit card on file. We understand emergencies happen and will occasionally extend the courtesy for extenuating circumstances. Repeated occurrences may be grounds for discontinuation. Similarly, lateness of more than10 minutes will be considered a late cancelled appointment unless prior arrangements are made with your therapist. Please remember that we can not bill insurance for missed or "half" sessions so please be respectful of your therapist's and other patients' time.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

We offer morning, afternoon and evening sessions to work around your schedule. That being said, evaluations are often scheduled during the day for the most accurate performance results. We do our best to schedule appointments around school, but all appointments are considered excused absences, and a school excuse note will be provided as needed.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THERAPY AND COUNSELING?
